Course Structure

Total volume: 200 academic hours

  • 80 academic hours of guided learning (in person or online via Microsoft Teams)
  • 120 academic hours of independent study

Target Group and Entry Requirements

The course is designed for:

  • Younger schoolchildren (from the age of 9) who are already able to read and possess basic English skills. The programme is adapted to suit learners’ age and individual needs, using authentic materials and a communicative approach.
  • Middle and upper secondary students who have reached level A1 and would like to use English more confidently in their studies, everyday life, or while preparing for international language exams.
  • Adult learners who are working or planning to work in an international environment and require English for professional communication.

A minimum level of A1 English is required to join the course, which is assessed through an interview and placement test.

Registration and application submission are mandatory.

Goal: To achieve CEFR level A2 in English.

Language of instruction: English-based


Learning Outcomes

Listening

The learner can understand phrases and commonly used vocabulary related to work, when spoken slowly and clearly.

Reading

Understands very short and simple texts; can identify essential information (e.g., advertisements, menus, job offers).

Speaking

Can handle everyday communication situations, describe people, make and respond to invitations, make suggestions, and apologise appropriately.

Writing

Can complete forms, write simple messages, announcements, personal letters, or respond to clients in writing.


Course Topics

Topics may be delivered in a flexible order, depending on learners’ needs.

Teaching Methodology

The course places a strong emphasis on spoken communication and the development of practical vocabulary for real-life and work contexts.

Learning is based on:

  • dialogues
  • role-plays
  • real-life scenarios
  • immersion in natural language environments

Skills developed: listening, reading, speaking, writing, and appropriate communicative behaviour.


Learning Environment

A modern and well-equipped learning environment, including:

  • a computer with internet access
  • whiteboard
  • CD/DVD player and speakers

All classrooms and resources meet health and safety standards.


Teacher Qualifications

All instructors hold a university degree (MA or equivalent), a recognised teaching qualification, and relevant experience in teaching English to adult learners.


Independent Study

Learners expand and reinforce their business vocabulary, read texts (e.g., Äripäev, Financial Times), complete written assignments, solve tests, and receive personalised feedback from the teacher.


Assessment and Completion

Learners’ achievement of level A2 is assessed through:

  • an oral interview
  • a written test (minimum required score: 60%)

To complete the course, a minimum of 75% attendance is required.


Certification

Graduates will receive an official certificate from Pleasant English Huvikool.

If the course is not completed or the required results are not achieved, a statement of participation will be issued.
