Course Volume and Structure

Total volume: 200 academic hours

  • 80 academic hours of guided instruction (on-site or via Microsoft Teams)
  • 120 academic hours of independent study

Target Group and Admission Requirements

The course is intended for:

  • School pupils in general education who wish to master English at B1 level for academic, communicative or exam-related purposes.
  • Adults working or aspiring to work in international companies, aiming to improve their B1-level spoken and written business English skills.

A minimum level of A2+ is required to participate in the course.

Placement is determined through an interview and/or language test.

Registration and submission of an application are mandatory.


Goal

To achieve level B1 in English in accordance with CEFR.


Language of Instruction

The course is delivered in English.


Learning Outcomes

Listening

Learners understand the main points of clear standard speech on workplace-related topics. They can follow the main ideas in slow, clearly articulated radio or TV broadcasts on familiar subjects.

Reading

Learners can comprehend texts with vocabulary related to their field. They understand the description of events, thoughts, and wishes in work-related letters.

Speaking

They are generally able to manage most everyday situations at work. They can speak on familiar topics using connected phrases and simple structures. Learners can explain plans and opinions, summarise texts or content from articles, and express their impressions.

Writing

Learners can produce coherent texts on work-related topics and compose professional emails describing their experiences or opinions.

Teaching Methodology

The course places a strong emphasis on spoken language and the vocabulary needed for everyday work-related communication.

New material is practised interactively with the teacher and peers.

Vocabulary is introduced via dialogues, role-plays, simulated business situations, and within authentic language environments.

All core skills are developed: reading, listening, speaking, writing, and workplace communication etiquette.

Students are encouraged to build confidence and enjoy the learning process.


Learning Environment

Each classroom includes:

  • A computer with internet access
  • Whiteboard
  • CD/DVD player and speakers

Facilities meet occupational health and safety standards.

The rooms are well-lit with both natural and artificial lighting and offer a comfortable, modern atmosphere.


Teacher Qualifications

All English teachers hold higher education degrees (MA or equivalent), recognised teaching qualifications, and experience in teaching English to adult learners.


Independent Study

Learners expand and reinforce workplace vocabulary, read professional texts and articles, complete written assignments and practical tasks, solve language tests, and use business dictionaries.

They are encouraged to search for relevant professional materials and present them in class.

Teachers provide feedback, and learners compile written progress reports.


Assessment, Requirements, and Certification

Language proficiency must match B1 level of CEFR.

Assessment includes:

  • An oral interview
  • A final written test (reading, listening, speaking, writing)

Certification requirements:

  • Attendance of at least 75% of all lessons
  • Minimum score of 60% on the final test

Participants who do not meet requirements or miss assessment will receive a statement of participation, including the number of attended hours.
